We’ve come to hail the God Thor! God of the Storms and rain. God of strength, protector of both Humankind and the Gods! And to hail the Goddess Sif! Goddess of the Golden Hair, who blesses the farmer’s field with a bountiful harvest. Goddess of the gentle hand and the patient mind. We hail You both Thor, we ask this Summer Solstice for Your blessings of strength and will to survive and prosper through the season. We ask that You bring the summer rains to these sun-drenched lands. We ask for protection from the harshest of seasons we live in. Sif, we ask this Summer Solstice for Your blessings of patience and the fortitude to navigate the hardships we may face during the season. Baldr! God of Light, God of Love. I invoke You this day! Nanna! Goddess of Love, Goddess of Loyalty. I invoke You this day! Baldr, Shining God, Benevolent God. God whose love knows no bounds, whose love is never ending. Whose love is warm, whose love is a comfort when the world’s darkness threatens tear us asunder. Nanna, Beautiful Goddess, Wise Goddess. Goddess whose loyalty is admirable. You who followed Your beloved husband into the Underworld and stayed at His side in the cold. Baldr, Shining God, Benevolent God. God whose light shines greater and brighter than any star in the sky, whose light pierces the darkness of hate and anger, leads us to be kind to ourselves and our fellow human. Nanna, Beautiful Goddess, Wise Goddess. Goddess whose love is unconditional and comforting like a mother’s. Your love is like an embrace from a mother, a sister, someone who can take away the hurt that this world inflicts upon us. Baldr, Nanna please accept this offering and in return let us know the light of Your love and kindness in the coming season. Success in all we do in the coming season. Whether it be small or large, whether we gain or sacrifice. Help us reach success this coming season. Hail to Thor! Great and powerful protector. Thor, I ask that You grant my family and I strength. Strength to handle all that life will throw at us. Whether the situation is small or large, expected or unexpected. Help us be strong in the coming season. Hail to Frey! Kind and generous King. Frey, I ask that You grant my family and I abundance. Abundance not only in earthly material but also love and understanding. Whether it is in a bountiful harvest or in another’s life, be it plentiful or minimal. Help us be kind and thoughtful to others in the coming season.
Prayer to the Disir
Hail to my maternal Ancestors. I honor my Disir. The women before me. I honor the path they have walked, and the deed they’ve done. I honor their accomplishments, large and small. I honor the women the women who came before me. I honor the good Disir and ask for guidance. I ask for wisdom and strength, for all of life’s dealings. I say this prayer to honor the good Disir. Mother to Hod and Baldr; Gods of light and dark Wife of the All-Father, Who claims the slain. Queen of all Asgard. I hail You All-Mother. In hopes of being blessed with love. Hail Angrboda! Mother to the Brood of the Trickster, Your three powerful children. Guardian of the wolves of the Ironwood, who come to Your command. Protector of all the outcast children, who wander alone, I hail You Mighty Sorceress. In hopes of being blessed with strength. Hail Jord! Mother to the Mighty Thor, Protector of Midgard. Whose body is the Earth, where I tread daily. Lover to the King of Asgard, Whose hand gave us breath. I hail You Mother Earth. In hopes of being blessed with wisdom. I hail these three Great Mothers and ask for, Strength, to continue my daily duties. Love, so that I may care and nurture others. Wisdom, so that I may withstand all the chaos of our human world.
